Creating Year-Round Interest in a Native Garden

May 12 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Learn how to use California natives in your garden for year-round color and texture. Even with summer-dormant plants, you can have a garden that is inviting at any time of the year.

In this beginning overview class you will learn how to:

  • Use California natives for impact at each season
  • Plant for year-round color
  • Conserve water and provide habitat for wildlife

Presenter Delle Maxwell has been a UCCE Master Gardener since 2014. She has a personal interest in drought-tolerant plants—especially California natives, cacti, and succulents. Her Portola Valley garden has been on the Going Native Garden Tour many times, most recently in April 2014.

Delle is a long-time volunteer at the San Francisco Botanical Garden at Strybing Arboretum, where she works in the nursery doing plant propagation. She also serves as chair on the board of trustees for the San Francisco Botanical Garden Society.
