Join the COS Civic Engagement series and CHAP (Cultural HistoricalAwareness Program) Next Tuesday, March 19th from6 pm-7 pm at the Ponderosa lecture hall for our next event:The Ku Klux Klan (KKK) in the Central Valley: A Legacy of RacismThough often when we think of the Ku Klux Klan, we think of places in“the south” and states like Mississippi, Alabama, or Georgia, did youknow there were active chapters of the Ku Klux Klan right here in theCentral Valley, including in Tulare, Kings, Kern, and Fresno counties?Join us later this month as we bring together three scholars fromacross the Valley to discuss their research on the Ku Klux Klan in theCentral Valley! Join us as we learn both about this legacy of racismand how local communities fought back against white supremacy. Thisevent is open to the public, and in-person seating will be on afirst-come, first-serve basis. Please share with your students,family, friends, community members, and anyone who you think might beinterested in attending!About the series: The Civic Engagement Speaker Series seeks to connectthe student body of College of the Sequoias, the campus community, andthe public to critical conversations around politics, politicalscience, local/statewide government, advocacy, politicalparticipation, and political topics. The series would seek tofacilitate community conversations between scholars, policymakers,experts, students, journalists, advocates, organizers, and publicservants representing diverse interests, backgrounds, and experiences
